Aston Martin’s Valkyrie Has More Power and Less Weight

Lighter than a Miata

Hypercars are known for their over-the-top power output, but when you have a machine that pumps out more than 1,200 horsepower and weighs less than a Mazda MX-5 Miata, how do you get it to stay on the ground? Aston Martin’s solution was to pair the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V-12 with an electric drivetrain and give it some serious aerodynamics.

While only a street version has been made, a track-only model is in the works with even better aerodynamics and large rear wing. To cut weight on the new model, Aston Martin thinned out every aspect of the car; the automaker even thinned out the badge on the front of the nose. We expect the current prototype to be unveiled next year, with customers being able to purchase it in 2019. However, it will come with a hefty sticker price of roughly $3 million.
