2018 Hyundai Ioniq Lineup Gets Plug-In Hybrid

Plugging It In

The Hyundai Ioniq is already available as a hybrid or an electric. But for 2018, a plug-in hybrid joins the Ioniq lineup, making the Ioniq the line the first to offer three different electrified powertrains on one dedicated platform. Pricing starts at $24,950.

The plug-in Ioniq has an all-electric range of more than 29 miles and gets 119 MPGe in EV mode and 52 mpg in hybrid mode. It’s powered by a 8.9-kWh lithium-ion polymer battery that’s pared with a new Kappa 1.6-liter Atkinson-cylce four-cylinder engine that delivers 104 horsepower and 109 pound-feet of torque. The only transmission offered is a six-speed dual-clutch automatic.
